Cut-leaved Deadnettle (Lamium hybridum) flowers

Description

Title:
Cut-leaved Deadnettle (Lamium hybridum) flowers
Caption / Description:

The Cut-leaved Deadnettle gets its scientific name (Lamium hybridum) from the fact that it is thought be a hybrid of Lamium purpureum (Red Deadnettle) and Lamium amplexicaule (Henbit Deadnettle). L. hybridum lacks the red leaf colouration of L. purpureum, and its leaves are more teethed than L. purpureum (a feature that gives L. hybridum the common name 'Cut leaved Deadnettle'). Lamium hybridum differs from L. amplexicaule by having petioled (on stalks) leaves, whereas L. amplexicaule leaves are attached directly to the stem.

The Cut-leaved Deadnettle grows up to 30cm tall, and features light pink-purple flowers, about 10-18mm across when fully open.
