Cheonchujeon Hall Interior

Description

Title:
Cheonchujeon Hall Interior
Caption / Description:

Inside one of the rooms of Cheonchujeon (천추전), in Gyeongbokgung (경복궁) Palace, Seoul (서울), South Korea (대한민국).

Cheonchujeon was one of the buildings used for the King's office during winter. Located to the west of Sajeongjeon (사정전), which was used during the rest of the year, Cheonchujeon incorporated an Ondol (온돌) underfloor heating system, which was lacking in Sajeongjeon.

Originally constructed in 1865 (the second year of King Gojong), a corridor connected Cheonchujeon to Sajeongjeon, but the corridor was dismantled during the Japanese occupation in the early 20th Century.
