Sajeongjeon Hall and Sajeongmun Gate are part of the Gyeongbokgung Palace (경복궁) in Seoul (서울), South Korea (한국).
Sajeongjeon Hall (사정전) was used as the main office where the King would discuss national affairs with his court officials during the Joseon dynasty. Sajeong (사정) means 'to ponder deeply over the careful execution of state affairs'. As well as being used for governmental meetings, Sajeongjeon was also used for qualifying examinations for the civil service and the occaisional party for the King's relatives and ministers.
Sajeongjeon is located behind Geunjeongjeon Hall (근정전), with Sajeongmun Gate (사정문) seperating them. Sajeongmun has three openings, the central opening was reserved for use by the King, while the ministers could use the ones to the left and right.
Sajeongjeon is not equipped with heated floors, so it is assumed that the halls on the left - Cheonchujeon (천추전) and right - Manchunjeon (만춘전), which did have an underfloor heating system available, would have been used during winter.
