People enjoy the flower carpet on Gwanghwamun Plaza (광화문 광장) in central Seoul (서울), South Korea (대한민국). The flower carpet is made up of 224,537 flowers, one flower for each day from Oct 28th 1394, when Seoul was made the capital of the Joseon dynasty, until August 1st 2009, when Gwanghwamun Plaza was officially opened.

The flower carpet is 17.5m wide, by 165m long, and is planted in the traditional Korean Dancheong (단청) pattern. On the east of Sejongno (세종로) can be seen the buildings (left to right): U.S. Embassy; Ministry of Information and Communication (정보통신부); Kyobo Life Insurance Building (교보생명 사옥); Dong-A Ilbo Headquarter building (동아일보 본사); Seoul Finance Center (서울 파이낸스 센터); Seoul Daily Newspaper Headquarters (서울신문 본사).
