A large decorated Haechi (해치) or Haetae (해태) scultpture on Gwanghwamun Plaza (광화문 광장) in central Seoul (서울), South Korea (대한민국). The Haechi (or Haetae) is the symbolic icon of Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. The legendary creature is meant to be a fire-eating dog, and was traditionally used as a guardian to protect buildings from fire.
In the background Mt. Bukhansan (북한산) can be seen, while to the right are the buildings housing the Ministry of Culture (문화관광부) and the U.S. Embassy.
