Looking towards the fountain and Yeongbin-gwan (영빈관) State Guest House from the public square in front of the Blue House Cheong Wa Dae (청와대) in Seoul, South Korea. Behind the presidential complex of Cheong Wa Dae can be seen Mount Bukhansan (북한산).
The Yeongbin-gwan State Guest House was built in 1978. Prior to the building of Yeongbin-gwan, presidential guests would stay in Seoul hotels, creating inconveniences and security hazards. To alleviate this problem, Yeongbin-gwan was built within the confines of the Cheong Wa Dae presidential complex. The building is supported by 18 granite pillars, made with stone quarried from Hwangdeung (황등) in Jeollabuk-do (전라북도) province.
