Helleborus niger flower

Description

Title:
Helleborus niger flower
Caption / Description:

Backlit photo of a Helleborus niger flower. The back lighting helps highlight the partial translucency of the flower's sepals. The sepals of the older flowers (further back) appear to have less translucency than the newer flower (front right).
The plant is commonly known in English as the Christmas rose, and flowers from mid-winter to early spring. The flowers are white, gradually turning a green color as they age.
