Close-up infrared photograph of purple Buddleja davidii flowers. In terms of tone, the flowers do not differ greatly from their appearance in visible light. The main difference is that under visible light there is a slightly lighter ring around the orange centre of each flower as it transitions to the purple colour of the petal lobes.

This species of Buddleja (also spelled Buddleia) is a popular cultivated plant. Its flowers are rich in nectar and attract many butterflys, a common name often used for Buddleja is the 'butterfly bush'.
