Caption / Description:

Panorama taken inside Heian Shrine (平安神宮; Heian-jingū) in the Sakyo-ku ward of Kyoto, Japan. Heian Shrine was originally built in 1895, as a partial replica of the Heian Palace to celebrate the 1100th anniversary of the founding of Heian-kyō.

The shrine is registered as an important cultural property of Japan. In 1976 some of the shrine buildings were burnt down, but these have since been rebuilt.
