The statue of Toyotomi Hideyoshi at Hokoku Shrine in Osaka Castle Park (大阪城公園; Osaka-Jō-Kōen), Osaka, Japan. Behind the statue is a large concrete torii gate, and the main building of the shrine can be seen behind that. Hōkoku Shrine (豊國神社; Hōkoku-jinja) is a shrine dedicated to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, his half-brother Toyotomi Hidenaga, and his son Toyotomi Hideyori.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi (豊臣 秀吉) is a famous Japanese warrior and general who managed to unify Japan under a single leader. He also built Osaka Castle, the grounds on which Hōkoku Shrine is currently located. The statue of Toyotomi Hideyoshi is a re-creation of an earlier statue that was destroyed in 1943 during WWII. The new statue was installed in 2007 and stands 3.2m high on top of a 2m tall pedestal. It was constructed by the Japanese sculptor Nakamura Shinya (中村晋也).
