The main entrance gate to Namba Yasaka Shinto Shrine (難波八阪神社 Namba Yasaka Jinja) in Osaka city, Japan. The stone torii (鳥居) gate marks the entrance of a sacred space. Mounted at the top of the gate is a tablet with the shrine's name, and hanging from the gate is a Shimenawa (注連縄), used to ward off evil spirits.
Namba Yasaka Jinja was once a quite large temple complex, but was closed in 1868 due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhism policy of the government at that time. In 1945 the buildings were burned down during air raids, the current buildings were reconstructed after the war.
