Inside the main building of Namba Yasaka Shinto Shrine (難波八阪神社 Namba Yasaka Jinja) in Osaka city, Japan. Small lanterns light the room, while wooden steps lead up to a small platform. Either side of the platform are Lion-dog Komainu (狛犬) guardian statues and a small curtain hangs down from above.
The shrine was once quite large, having the seven standard buildings of a Buddhist temple complex. However, the shrine was closed after the Meiji restoration in 1868 due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhism policy of the government at that time. In 1945 the area was badly damaged during air raids, and the buildings had to be rebuilt after the war.
