A tree at Namba Yasaka Shinto Shrine (難波八阪神社 Namba Yasaka Jinja) in Osaka city, Japan. Attached to the tree is a poster asking dog owners to clean up after their pets. Hanging from an adjacent tree are Omikuji (御御籤, 御神籤, or おみくじ), small strips of paper with fortunes written on them.
Omikuji are purchased for a small amount at the shrine, if the fortune is good then the purchaser can take the fortune home with them. If the fortune is bad then it is tied to a tree, fence, or rock and left at the shrine, symbolising that the bad luck is left behind.
