Jogyesa (Hangeul: 조계사; Hanja: 曹溪寺) is the head temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, which was established in 1941. The temple's name was changed to Jogyesa in 1954 as part of the Buddhist Purification Movement, which aimed to eliminate any Japanese influences on Korean Buddhism made since the Japanese occupation of Korea in the early 1900s.
