The Information Center for Foreigners and Beomjongru bell pavilion at Jogyesa Temple, in Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea. To the right is Geungnakjeon hall. The Information Center for Foreigners at Jogyesa offers a glimpse into temple life for tourists, with a range of activities including woodblock printing, making lanterns and prayer beads, painting, and a tea ceremony. Information on the temple and Buddhism in general are also available from the center.
Above the information center is Beomjongru (Hangeul: 범종루; Hanja: 梵鐘樓), which contains a large drum, bell, cloud shaped gong, and a large wooden fish carving. The instruments are played every morning and evening to call all beings to listen to the liberating words of the Buddha, which are chanted during the ceremony.
Jogyesa (Hangeul: 조계사; Hanja: 曹溪寺) is the head temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, and a popular tourist attraction, being located in central Seoul.
