Beomjongru bell pavilion at Jogyesa Temple, in Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Beomjongru (Hangeul: 범종루; Hanja: 梵鐘樓) contains a large drum, bell, cloud shaped gong, and a large wooden fish carving. The instruments are played every morning and evening to call all willing sentient beings to listen to the liberating words of the Buddha, which are chanted at every ceremony.
The instruments are sounded 28 times in the morning and 33 times in the evening. The drum calls land creatures, the bell calls spirits, the gong calls birds, and the fish summons aquatic creatures.
The building is painted in the traditional Korean dancheong style and has boards with wise sayings attached to the outsides of the support columns.
