A group of stupas (부도) from Sinheungsa temple (신흥사) in Seoraksan National Park (설악산국립공원), South Korea. The stupas have been declared as cultural property no. 115 of Gangwon province.
A stupa is a pagoda where ashes or remains of Buddhist saints or monks are placed. Each of the 19 stupa in Sinheungsa is dedicated to successive Buddhist monks. They were placed in their current location when the temple was repaired in 1644. Three of the stupa, including one dedicated to Daewondangtap (대원당탑) are circular.
Sixteen of the stupa, including one dedicated to Sunggokdangtap (성곡당탑), are bell shaped. It is not known to whom twelve of the stupa are dedicated.
