A model of Colonel Sanders stands at the door to a KFC restaurant in Suwon Station (수원역), in Suwon (수원), South Korea (한국). The first KFC in Korea opened in 1984, and today they have over 160 restuarants nationwide.
Colonel Sanders (샌더스 대령) was the man who developed the Kentucky Fried Chicken recipe, and started the KFC restaurant franchise. He had a distinctive appearance, with his white hair, moustache, and goatee, and always wore a white suit and black string tie. His image has featured heavily in many KFC advertising campaigns.
