The Green Shield bug (Palomena prasina) is a large shield bug with a brown wing membrane visible to the rear of the bug, and reddish coloured antennae. The adult shield bugs are usually bright green, but towards winter they become more of a brown colour.

Palomena prasina is common throughout the UK, and feeds on a variety of plants and trees. They have one generation per year, and hibernate over winter.
